Pacemaker
A pacemaker is a small device that may be used when the heart beats too slowly or pauses. Dr. Polosajian provides educational information about pacemakers, and our office can help with cardiac device care questions. Whether a pacemaker is needed is a physician decision.
ICD
An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is a device that may treat certain dangerous fast ventricular rhythms. Our practice provides cardiac device care, including defibrillator-related follow-up questions. Whether an ICD is recommended is individualized.
CRT
Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is a specialized pacing approach that may be considered for some people with heart failure and a specific electrical pattern. It is not appropriate for everyone. Please call to ask about evaluation; confirm with the practice which services are offered.
EP Study
An electrophysiology study is a detailed way to look at the heart’s electrical system. Electrode catheters can sense activity in different parts of the heart and deliver tiny pacing impulses. Whether an EP study is appropriate depends on symptoms, prior tests, and a physician’s evaluation.
SVT Ablation

VT Ablation

Pacemaker Implant
A pacemaker is a small device that can send electrical impulses to help maintain a suitable heart rate when the natural pacemaker is too slow. Whether implantation is needed is a physician decision. Please call to ask about evaluation and device care.
ICD Implant
An implantable cardioverter defibrillator is a device placed in the body that can recognize certain rapid ventricular arrhythmias and treat them with pacing or an electronic shock. Whether an ICD is recommended is individualized. Call to ask about evaluation.
Loop Recorder
An implantable loop recorder is a small device placed under the skin to help identify the cause of unexplained fainting or infrequent rhythm symptoms. It records heart activity over a long period. A physician decides whether this monitor is appropriate.
Device Replacement
Implantable pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices contain batteries that eventually run low. When that happens, the physician typically replaces the device. The original leads often remain in place. Call the office about device-care questions.
3-D Mapping
Three-dimensional electro-anatomical mapping is a computer-based way to display catheter location and reconstruct the anatomy and electrical properties of a heart chamber during an EP study or ablation. It is a tool, not a treatment by itself.
Cardioversion
Cardioversion is a brief procedure in which a controlled electrical shock is delivered to the heart to convert an abnormal rhythm back toward a normal rhythm. Sometimes medications are used instead of, or in addition to, a shock. A physician decides whether cardioversion is appropriate.
