What AFib ablation means
Atrial fibrillation ablation aims to reduce the abnormal electrical activity that can trigger or sustain AFib, often by treating tissue around the pulmonary veins or other target areas selected by the physician.

Why it may be discussed
A physician may discuss AFib ablation when symptoms continue despite medication, when medications are not tolerated, or when a rhythm-control strategy is being considered. Stroke prevention and other medical issues remain separate parts of AFib care.
